For many years Joyce Gunn Cairns has expressed her deep love of literature through her portrait drawings of contemporary writers. In this show Joyce has widened her focus to include significant figures from many other fields of Scottish life. The result is an invaluable "snapshot" of the cultural state of the nation at the end of the first decade of the new century.
Includes comprehensive biographies of each of the sitters, a foreword by Julie Lawson, Chief Curator at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, as well as an in depth conversation between Julie Lawson and the artist. Also included are chapters about award winning silversmith Mark Andrew Powell and BAFTA winning filmmaker Johanna Wagner - both of whom contributed to the exhibition.
