LECTURES UPON THE SHADOW - BY ROBERT POWELL
Robert Powell is a recent MA graduate in Fine Art and Painting at the Edinburgh College of Art. He has won several awards, including the Andrew Grant Award in 2007 and then in 2008, the John Watson Bequest Award whilst exhibiting at the Gallery of Modern Art.
In his first solo show here at The Henderson Gallery, Powell explores the tension between his reverence of the natural world and the urge to defy it with his own creations. The culmination is a giant visual encyclopaedia that brings into existence an entirely new world, with its own cultures, religions, philosophies, and art.
